BALLOON
A gastric balloon is a non-surgical and temporary weight loss procedure designed to help you achieve weight loss and improve lifestyle habits. It involves placing a deflated balloon in the stomach, which is then inflated to create a feeling of fullness, leading to reduced food intake. The balloon is part of our comprehensive weight loss program that includes dietary and lifestyle modifications.
How is it work?
Restriction of Stomach Space:
The presence of the balloon in the stomach reduces its capacity, leading to a sensation of fullness with smaller meals. This restriction help you to consume fewer calories.
Appetite Suppression:
The balloon may also contribute to appetite suppression by applying pressure to the stomach walls and affecting the release of hunger hormones.
Duration of Treatment:
Gastric balloons are typically left in place for a limited duration, usually ranging from a few months to a year. After this period, the balloon is removed.

GASTRIC SLEEVE
Gastric sleeve surgery is performed by minimally invasive surgery, involving small incisions and specialized instruments. This approach results in shorter recovery times and reduced postoperative pain.
During the surgery, Dr. Ivan removes approximately 75-80% of the stomach, leaving a narrow tube or "sleeve" resembling the shape of a banana or sleeve.
How is it work?
Reduced Stomach Capacity
The smaller stomach limits the amount of food you can eat, leading to a feeling of fullness with smaller portions.
Ghrelin Hormone Reduction
The surgery also involves removing the part of the stomach that produces ghrelin, a hormone associated with hunger. This leads to a decrease in appetite.
Metabolic function
Rapid emptying of the stomach activates a cascade of metabolic hormones that improve insulin production and uptake, improving long-term metabolism.
Improvement in Obesity-Related Conditions
You´ll experience improvements or resolution of obesity-related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea.
How is it work?
Reduced Stomach
Similar to traditional gastric bypass, MGB involves creating a smaller stomach pouch. However, in the mini-gastric bypass, the pouch is longer and narrower than in the standard procedure.
Intestinal Bypass
A portion of the small intestine is then connected to the new stomach pouch, allowing food to bypass the upper part of the small intestine, where nutrient absorption occurs.
Mechanism of Weight Loss
MGB induces weight loss through a combination of restriction (reducing the stomach size) and hypoabsorption (reducing the absorption of nutrients in the small intestine).
Ghrelin Hormone Reduction
Similar to other weight loss procedures, MGB typically leads to a reduction in the production of the hunger hormone ghrelin, helping patients feel less hungry.

GASTRIC BYPASS
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is a common and effective weight loss surgery that involves both restrictive and hypoabsorptive components. This procedure has been performed for decades and has proven to be successful in helping individuals achieve significant and sustained weight loss
How is it work?
Weight loss is done through both restriction (reducing stomach size) and hypoabsorption (reducing nutrient absorption in the small intestine). The smaller stomach limits food intake, while the rerouting of the intestines reduces the absorption of calories and nutrients.
Benefits
Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is known for producing significant weight loss, resulting in long-term success in many patients.
Improvement in Obesity-Related Conditions
You´ll experience improvements or resolution of obesity-related health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea.
Acid Reflux:
RYGB is the gold surgery for those patients who have obesity and acid reflux.
How is it work?
Sleeve Gastrectomy
The surgery begins with a sleeve gastrectomy, during which a significant portion of the stomach is removed to create a smaller, sleeve-shaped stomach. This restrictive component limits the amount of food a person can consume.
Duodenal-Ileal Anastomosis
The duodenum (the first part of the small intestine) is divided, and the lower part of the small intestine (ileum) is then connected to the duodenum. This creates a single anastomosis, allowing food to bypass a portion of the small intestine where nutrient absorption occurs.
Restriction and Hypoabsorption
The SADI-S is the most powerful procedure, it induces weight loss through combination of restriction (sleeve gastrectomy) and more powerful hypoabsorption (reducing nutrient absorption by duodenum-ileum anastomosis).
